Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a metropolis and special administrative region on the southern coast of The People's Republic of China in the Pearl River Delta. With a population exceeding seven million people over 1,085 km² and as a major economic and financial sector, Hong Kong is truly a world city. Hong Kong was occupied by the United Kingdom during the First Opium War in 1841 and declared a British Crown Colony by the Treaty of Nanking in 1843. The transfer of sovereignty to The People's Republic of China ensued in 1997.
