Indonesia
The Republic of Indonesia is the largest island nation and the fourth largest country in the world based on population as of 2010. The island of Borneo is bordered by Malaysia, the island of New Guinea borders Papua New Guinea and the island of Timor borders East Timor. For the most part, Indonesia belongs to the Asian continent, though the part of the country on the island of New Guinea is considered to belong to the Australian continent. The capital, Jakarta, has 9.58 million inhabitants (2010) and is located on the island of Java where more than half the country’s population resides.
